Yoga & Fitness for Special Needs is a tailored program of modified restorative and therapeutic yoga postures and breathing techniques that acts as natural medicine.
Yoga unifies the mind, body and spirit. It allows stillness of the mind, which in turn relaxes the body. Yoga originated over 5,000 years ago in India and is known for its many benefits to physical and emotional health and wellbeing.
Special needs individuals often have high levels of anxiety and difficulty coping with stress. Mindful breathing helps calm their nervous systems and brings their bodies to a more regulated state. All postures can be modified to meet the needs of any physical or development ability and YFE's certifited instructors assist student's at a personal level throughout the class.
This tailored yoga practice develops balance, strength and flexibility, boosts concentration, focus, self-regulation and confidence while also strengthening the nervous, lymphatic and metabolic systems. Meditation practice supports calming of the mind and body, concentration, language development and imagination. It is a "natural medicine" for body, mind and spirit.
